Taake is a Norwegian black metal band from Bergen formed in 1993 by Ørjan Stedjeberg. The band's sole continuous member is Hoest, who wrote and recorded most of the music. The group released their first demo, Der Vinterstormene raste, in 1993 under their original name, Thule, before changing their name to Taake shortly after. Their debut album, Nattestid, was released by Wounded Love Records in 1999. The band's second full-length album, Bjoergvin, followed in 2002. In 2005, they released the third installment of their trilogy, Doedskvad. After a brief hiatus, the band returned with their self-titled album, Taake, in 2008 and Noregs vaapen in 2011, which was nominated for the Norwegian Spellemann award in the Metal category. They subsequently released Kong Vinter (2017), Et hav av avstand (2023), and En skog av nidstang (2026).
