Overdose is a Brazilian heavy metal and progressive metal band formed in Belo Horizonte in the 1980s. Contemporaries of Sepultura, they recorded a split album with the band on Cogumelo Records in 1985. Overdose went on to release five studio albums for the label, including Conscience... (1987), You're Really Big, Addicted to Reality (1989), and Circus of Death (1992). After opening for Testament and Kreator, they signed with North American label Futurist Label Group in 1993 and released Progress of Decadence internationally. Their 1995 album Scars followed. Overdose subsequently shared stages with bands including Carnivore, Type O Negative, Biohazard, L7, Machine Head, and Nailbomb. Former Sepultura guitarist Jairo Guedz later joined the band.
