Afrob (born August 1, 1977, in Italy) is a rapper and actor from Germany. Born Robert Zemichiel, the artist began his musical career in 1994. He initially tried his hand as a guest vocalist for various bands such as Massive Töne, Freundeskreis, and Spezializtz. Afrob also works closely with fellow rapper Samy Deluxe. In 1999, Afrob released Rolle mit Hip Hop, his long-awaited debut album as a solo artist. With this album, the rapper reached number 13 on the German charts. The song “Reimemonster”, featuring Ferris MC, became a hit. Together with DJ Tomekk, Grandmaster Flash, Flavor Flav, and MC Rene, Afrob scored another hit that same year with “1, 2, 3 Rhymes Galore (From New York to Germany)”, reaching No. 6 on the German charts. In 2001, he followed up with another album, Made in Germany. However, his biggest success that year came with the single “Adriano (Letzte Warnung)”, featuring Brothers Keepers. The song climbed to No. 5 on the German charts and went gold. In 2003, Afrob released the album Wer hätte das gedacht? with Samy Deluxe. The album reached No. 5 on the German album charts. The accompanying single “Sneak Preview” also became a hit. Afrob followed up with the albums Hammer (2005) and Der Letzte seiner Art (2009). At the same time, Afrob also launched a career as an actor and made several appearances in various TV and film productions. It wasn’t until 2014 that he released another solo album, Push. A year later, Afrob released another album with his rap colleague Samy Deluxe. The album Blockbasta reached number 4 on the German charts. As early as 2016, Afrob released another solo album, Mutterschiff. Following Abschied von gestern (2019), Afrob’s eighth studio album, König ohne Land, was released in 2023. Together with fellow rapper Ferris MC, Afrob released the collaborative album Ein Fall für Zwei in June 2026. The album reached number 10 on the German charts.
