Doppelkopf was a German hip-hop group from Hamburg that emerged in 1996, formed by Falk, Teaz, and Bubbles, with Falk and Teaz having already earned a certain fame in Hamburg in 1989 as members of their earlier band Sixpack. The trio's style differed significantly from other hip-hop bands, favouring melancholic, fantasy-laden storytelling over typical battle rap. They became popular through the EP Raps vom Mond, released under the name Doppelkopf starring Bubbles, followed by the single "Balance". The group released the album Von Abseits, which included a different version of the single "Supa Stah", based on a Buena Vista Social Club sample, and they also released the single "Supa Stah (Chan Chan)" under the name Doppelkopf vs. Yard. "Balance" and "Supa Stah" were both accompanied by a music video notably elaborate for the genre. The group also collaborated with Samy Deluxe and Daniel Larusso on the track "3D", and Falk and Teaz later appeared on the track "Wort Drauf" on Eins Zwo's album Gefährliches Halbwissen, again alongside Daniel Larusso and Samy Deluxe. Following the success of Von Abseits, the group split, dissolving in 2002. "Supa Stah"(vs. Yard) reached number 68 in the German charts in 2000, and the group's thematic approach set them apart from other hip-hop acts.
