Marionetz, a German New Wave/Punk band from Munich, was formed in 1978 under the name The Marionettes. Initially influenced by bands like The Stooges and Sex Pistols, they began their career with Tommy Davis on vocals and Sigi Pop on bass. In 1980, the band recorded their first official single, "Wir sind die Marionetz". Their debut album Jetzt Knallts was released in 1981, with purely German lyrics. This marked the birth of German fun-punk. The band's second album, Vierzehn, released in 1984 on Warner Bros., featured notable singles like "Allein". Their influence persisted with releases such as the EP Weltmeister (2014) and the album Jetzt Knallts Richtig (2024).
