Midnight Choir was a Norwegian alternative rock and alt-country band formed in 1992 in Norway. Their members included Al DeLoner, Paal Flaata, and Ron Olsen. Their name was taken from the first line of the song “Bird on a Wire” (1969) by Leonard Cohen. Their debut album, Midnight Choir (1994), was followed by the recordings Olsen's Lot (1996) and Amsterdam Stranded (1998). The group received the Spellemannprisen in the rock category in 1998. Their discography includes the albums Unsung Heroine (2000), which featured collaborations with Chris Eckman and Nils Petter Molvær, and Waiting for the Bricks to Fall (2003). The band became inactive in 2004. Posthumous releases include the recording In the Shadow of the Circus (2008).
