Daniel Reuss, born on July 2, 1961 in Leiden, Province of South Holland, is a German-Dutch conductor. He studied choir conducting at the Rotterdam Conservatory under Barend Schuurman and founded the Oude Muziek Koor Arnhem in 1982, transforming it into one of the Netherlands' most respected amateur choirs. Reuss served as artistic director of Cappella Amsterdam from 1990 and collaborated with ensembles such as the Schönberg Ensemble and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. He led the choir conducting department at the Amsterdam Conservatory from 1995 to 2000 and was chief conductor of the RIAS Chamber Choir in Berlin from 2003 to 2007. Reuss received the Edison Award for his CD with works by Robert Heppener and the Diapason d’or de l’année 2004 for a recording of Frank Martin and Olivier Messiaen. Notable recordings include Mozart Edition Volume 17 (2007), Stravinsky: Les Noces, Mass, Cantata (2007), and Beethoven: Missa Solemnis (2017).
