Milan Turković, born on September 14, 1939, in Zagreb, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, is an Austrian-Croatian bassoonist, baroque bassoonist, and conductor. He grew up in Vienna, completing his studies there and in Detmold. Turković began his career playing with the Philharmonia Hungarica and joined the Bamberger Symphoniker from 1962 to 1967. In 1967, he became the solo bassoonist of the Wiener Symphoniker, a position he held until 1984. He performed under Nikolaus Harnoncourt in the Concentus Musicus Wien and founded the Ensemble Wien-Berlin. He authored several books on music, including Die seltsamsten Wiener der Welt: Nikolaus Harnoncourt und sein Concentus Musicus (2003), and received the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art I. Class in 2001. Other album releases included Fagotto concertante and The Art of Milan Turkovic.
