Anita Traversi, born on 25 July 1937 in Giubiasco, Switzerland, was a Swiss pop singer whose career began in the mid‑1950s when she performed with the orchestra of the Italian‑language Swiss radio channel and later with the Quintetta Radiosa backing Lys Assia’s Eurovision entries. Her first significant break came in 1959 when she secured a recording contract in Italy and collaborated with Adriano Celentano, producing the Top Ten hit "Piccola". Traversi represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest twice, first in 1960 with "Cielo e terra", which placed eighth, and again in 1964 with "I miei pensieri", which finished tied for last. Throughout the early 1960s she also appeared at international festivals, winning first prize at the 1962 Sopot International Song Festival with "Una certa sera" and securing second place in 1968 with "Odra rzeka". She retired from show business in the early 1970s to focus on family life; she made a brief return to the 1976 Swiss Eurovision selection. Anita Traversi passed away in Bellinzona on 25 September 1991 at the age of 54.
