Mats Lidström, born in 1959 in Sweden, is a recording artist, chamber musician, composer, teacher, and publisher. He studied at the Juilliard School under Leonard Rose after beginning his musical education with Maja Vogl in Gothenburg. Lidström's career includes performances and recordings with major orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Notable collaborations include conductors like André Previn, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Osmo Vänskä. He has released acclaimed albums including Boellmann & Godard's Cello Sonatas (1996), Suite Tintin (2007), and Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No.1 (2018). Lidström has also composed works like the Rigoletto Fantasy for cello and orchestra, which have been performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall. In addition to performing, he has taught at institutions including the Royal Academy of Music in London.
