Canal Terror was a German punk band from Bonn formed in 1980 by founding members Tommy, Volker, and Dominik. The group released their first demo recordings and a Super-8 film featuring the song “Staatsfeind” (1981) in 1981. Their debut LP, Zu spät (1983), was recorded in December 1982 but released in April 1983 due to label disputes. Tommy left in 1983, and Rainer took over vocals while Stefan, formerly of Toxoplasma, joined as the new drummer. They performed with acts including Black Flag, Minutemen, Slime, and Die Ärzte. A live version of “Staatsfeind” (1985) appeared on the sampler Babylon bleibt fahren (1985). The band disbanded in 1984 but reunited for a concert in December 1991. Live recordings from this reunion were released as Live in Bonn (1992), and their debut album Zu spät (1983) was reissued on CD.
