Randy Sabien, born September 26, 1956 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is an American jazz violinist, composer, and music educator. He initially played drums but switched to violin for his local youth orchestra and discovered jazz through Stephane Grappelli. Sabien studied at the University of Illinois and Berklee College of Music, where he founded and chaired the Jazz Strings department at age 21. In the early 1980s, he performed with folk singer-songwriter Jim Post and released his first solo album In a Fog in 1983 on Flying Fish Records. Sabien has collaborated with artists like Bela Fleck and Greg Brown, and appeared on Garrison Keillor's radio series A Prairie Home Companion. He founded Fiddlehead Music in 1989 and appointed as the chair of the Strings department at McNally Smith College of Music in 2009.
