Hansjörg Schellenberger, born on February 13, 1948, in Munich, Germany, is a notable oboist and conductor. He began playing the recorder at age six and started taking oboe lessons at thirteen. In 1965, he won the first prize at the "Jugend musiziert" (Youth Makes Music) competition. Schellenberger studied oboe and conducting at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. He became the assistant principal oboist at the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1971 and the principal oboist in 1975. From 1980 to 2001, he served as the principal oboist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Herbert von Karajan. Schellenberger's discography includes numerous recordings with labels such as Denon, DGG, Orfeo, Sony Classical, and EMI. He founded his own label, Campanella Musica, in 1997. Notable achievements include winning a Grammy Award for "Best Chamber Music Performance" in 1994 and receiving the Federal Cross of Merit in 2018.
