Paul Heller, born 21 April 1971 in Jülich, Germany, is a tenor saxophonist whose career began with formal study at the Cologne University of Music under Wolfgang Engstfeld. He entered the professional scene in 1990, performing with big bands such as those of Thilo Berg and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. He joined Bob Brookmeyer’s New Art Orchestra in 1994. His debut self‑titled album was released in 1995, followed by Kaleidoscope (1996) and the Special Edition series (2010–2013). In 2015 he released Trio, and in 2021 Remembering appeared on Toy Piano. Heller has collaborated with Ack van Rooyen, Roberto Di Gioia, and John Hollenbeck, toured extensively for the Goethe Institut, and contributed to over 70 recordings as sideman and leader.
