Ben Weaver, born in 1980 in Eugene, Oregon, is an American singer-songwriter who spent his childhood in St. Paul, Minnesota. After dropping out of college, he began traveling, which influenced his songwriting. His debut album, El Camino Blues, was released in 1999 with contributions from Greg Brown and Tony Glover. Weaver's third album, Hollerin' at a Woodpecker (2003), received critical acclaim, including being named number 3 Americana album of the year by Mojo magazine. This success led to the international release of his fourth album, Stories Under Nails, in 2004 and subsequent tours with artists like the Waifs and Kristin Hersh. Weaver's 2010 album, Mirepoix and Smoke, was inspired by his time working in a Minneapolis restaurant after taking a break from recording and touring.
