Baby Grandmothers were a Swedish psychedelic rock band formed in Stockholm in 1967 after the dissolution of the R&B group the T‑Boones. The lineup, featuring vocalist Kenny Håkansson, drummer Erik “Kapten” Dahlbäck, bassist Bengt “Bella” Linnarsson and later keyboardist Mecki Bodemark, made their debut with the single “Somebody Keeps Calling My Name” / “Being Is More Than Life” in 1968 on the label Eteenpäin. The group toured Scandinavia with the Jimi Hendrix Experience and recorded material that would surface on their 2007 self‑titled album from Subliminal Records, followed by the 2018 album Merkurius on Subliminal Sounds. Members later formed a new version of the Mecki Mark Men, which recorded two albums in 1970 before breaking up the following year. Critics such as Craig Hayes of PopMatters praised the 2007 album as one of the finest heavy psych reissues of the last decade.
