Elefant, an indie rock band from New York City, was active from 2002 to 2010 and featured Diego Garcia on vocals. Born in Detroit to Argentine parents in the late 1970s, Garcia began writing songs at age 14 and studied economics at Brown University before deciding he wanted to pursue a career in music. After graduating in 2000, he moved to New York City and formed Elefant with bassist Jeff Berrall, guitarist James Ascuitto (aka Mod), and drummer Kevin McAdams. The band's debut EP Gallery Girl was released in 2003, followed by their full-length album Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid, which included the single "Misfit". After signing with Hollywood Records in 2004, Elefant released their second album, The Black Magic Show, in 2006. The band went on hiatus after recording this album and officially disbanded in June 2010.
