Boris Mironovich Pergamenschikov, born August 14, 1948, in Leningrad, Soviet Union, was a Soviet and German cellist and music teacher. The son of cellist Miron Pergamenschikov, he studied at the Leningrad Conservatory with Emmanuel Fishman and gained international recognition after winning first prizes at the Prague Spring International Competition (1970) and the International Tchaikovsky Competition (1974). After emigrating from the USSR in 1977, he taught at the Cologne University of Music, Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin, and the Basel Academy of Music. His recordings included Bach’s cello suites and works by Dutilleux, while he collaborated with artists such as Gidon Kremer, András Schiff, and Claudio Abbado.
