Pena Branca e Xavantinho was a country music duo formed by brothers José Ramiro Sobrinho (Pena Branca) and Ranulfo Ramiro da Silva (Xavantinho). They began performing on a radio station in Uberlândia in 1958 and moved to São Paulo in 1968 to pursue music professionally. The duo gained national recognition in the 1980s with albums such as Velha Morada (1980) and O Cio da Terra (1987), the latter becoming their biggest success. Throughout their career, they collaborated with notable Brazilian artists including Milton Nascimento, Fagner, Almir Sater, and Renato Teixeira. They received major recognition, winning Sharp Awards for Best Song and Best Album in the early 1990s. Their partnership ended with Xavantinho's death in 1999. Pena Branca continued a solo career until he died in 2010, and the duo remains highly influential in Brazilian country and folk music.
