Roger McKenzie (born 22 July 1971 in Southampton, England, died 25 November 1995 in Southampton) was an English musician and DJ who operated under the pseudonym Wildchild. After growing up in Southampton, he relocated to Brighton in 1991, where he began working as an underground house DJ and released a series of EPs titled Wildtrax, the first of his Wildchild productions on Loaded Records. In 1995, "Renegade Master" became his first hit single, peaking at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart — the same track had earlier charted at number 34 under the title Legends of the Dark Black – Part Two — before being surpassed by Fatboy Slim's 1998 remix "Renegade Master '98", which reached number 3. He founded the label Dark & Black and, together with Donna Snell, attempted to establish a presence in New York before collapsing from a heart attack. His posthumous releases continued to chart: "Jump to My Beat" (1996) entered the UK singles chart at number 30, "Bad Boy" (1998) reached number 38, and "Renegade Master '98" entered the German charts at number 88. Wildchild's catalog includes the Legends of the Dark Black series, the Wildtrax EPs, and compilations such as The Best of Wildtrax and The Wildchild Experience.
