Johannes Kalitzke, born on February 12, 1959, in Cologne, Germany, is a German composer and conductor whose career began with piano studies under Jeanette Chéro and later included composition with York Höller and electronic music with Hans Ulrich Humpert. He has conducted contemporary festivals and opera houses such as the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Salzburg Festival, and has premiered operas including Die Besessenen (2010) and PYM (2016). In 2015, he accepted a professorship for conducting at the Mozarteum Salzburg.
