Lori Watson, born in 1981 in the Scottish Borders, is a Scottish folk singer, fiddler, researcher, and teacher. Watson was a founding member of The Small Hall Band and performed in the Clarty Cloot Ceilidh Band. She graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2003. In 2006, Watson released her debut album, :Three, through the family-run label ISLE Music Scotland. Her career includes membership in the ensembles Lori Watson and Rule of Three, Boreas, Watson/Black, and Border Fiddles. Watson’s discography includes the albums Pleasure's Coin (2009) and Borders Young Fiddles (2004). She received the Celtic Connections Danny Kyle Award in 2005 and was named MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards Scots Singer of the Year in 2016. In 2013, Watson completed a PhD in Contemporary Innovation and Traditional Music in Scotland. She became a lecturer in Scottish Ethnology at the University of Edinburgh in 2020.
