Pepe Jara (1928–2005), known as El Trovador Solitario, was an iconic Mexican bolero singer and guitarist. He is best remembered as the definitive interpreter of legendary composer Álvaro Carrillo, with his most famous rendition being the classic song "El Andariego". Born José Jesús Jara Martínez in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, he started his music career in the 1950s performing with popular trios like Los Pepes, Trio Culiacán, and Los Duendes. He soon transitioned to a highly successful solo career, touring Mexico and Latin America, often performing with his signature guitar and a distinctive, melancholic vocal style. Beyond "El Andariego," his vast discography included other major hits like "La Mentira" (Se te olvida) and "Amor Mío". He passed away in Mexico City in 2005, leaving behind a massive legacy in the golden age of the Mexican bolero.
