Hijokaidan, a Japanese noise and free improvisation group, was formed in 1979 in Kyoto by Jojo Hiroshige and Naoki Toshi. The group initially began as a performance art-based collective with an ever-changing lineup, often involving chaotic live shows that included destruction of venues and audio equipment. Hijokaidan released several albums, including 蔵六の奇病 (1982), Viva Angel (1984), and King Of Noise (1985). The group's sound evolved from performance art to a dense wall of noise, with notable releases such as The Hijohkaidan Tapes (1986) and Limited Edition (1987). Throughout their career, Hijokaidan continued to release albums under various labels, including Alchemy Records, which was founded by Jojo Hiroshige. Notable later releases include "Ferocity Of Practical Life" (1997) and Noise From Trading Cards (1997).
