Green Apple Sea, a German indie-folk band with roots in Emsland and based in Nuremberg, formed with strong influences from country and Americana music. The group's debut album All Over the Place was released in 2000 via Skycap/Zomba Records. Following this release, Green Apple Sea collaborated with Missouri for a studio session titled By the Time We Get to Phoenix, part of the "Return To Sender" series, which was released in 2002. The band's second album, Forever Sounds Great, was released in 2007 on Skycap/Rough Trade and received positive reviews, including being featured on Rolling Stone Magazine’s Rare-Trax Vol. 54 Sampler. In October 2010, Green Apple Sea released their third studio album, Northern Sky / Southern Sky, which gained significant airplay in Germany and was also released in Portugal and Japan. The band's fourth album, Directions, was released in 2018 via K&F Records.
