Christopher Alan Helme, also known as Chris Helme, born on July 22, 1971, in Howden, Yorkshire, is an English singer-songwriter. He began his musical journey at age 19, performing in pubs and folk clubs with bands like Daisy Space/Genuine Moon Material and Chutzpah. In 1996, Helme joined John Squire's post-Stone Roses band The Seahorses after impressing Squire with a busking performance. The Seahorses released their debut album Do It Yourself in 1997, which included hit singles "Love is the Law", "Blinded by the Sun", and "Love Me and Leave Me". In January 1999, the band split due to creative differences between Helme and Squire. Following this, Helme embarked on a solo career and released his debut album Ashes in 2008 and The Rookery in 2012. He continues to tour as a solo artist and with a full band.
