Paper Aeroplanes, a Welsh folk pop band, was formed in 2009 by Sarah Howells and Richard Llewellyn. The duo had previously played together in Halflight since 2003. Paper Aeroplanes built their initial fanbase through gigging in Cardiff before expanding to UK-wide and European tours. Their debut album, The Day We Ran into the Sea, was released in 2010, followed by We Are Ghosts in March 2011. The band's third album, Little Letters (2013), reached number 28 on the UK Alternative Chart. Paper Aeroplanes performed at notable venues such as London's Union Chapel and the Hay Festival, and their music was featured on BBC Radio Wales and other stations. In November 2017, the band announced they would not be recording future music together, with Howells focusing on her solo project under the stage name Bryde.
