Hypernova is an Iranian rock band formed in Tehran and based in New York City. The group consists of lead vocalist King Raam, lead guitarist Kodi Najm, drummer Kami, and bassist Jam, who adopted stage names to protect their identities due to strict anti-rock policies in Iran. After securing U.S. visas with the assistance of Senator Charles Schumer, they toured the United States from 2008 to 2009. The band released its debut studio album, Through the Chaos, on April 6, 2010, through Narnack Records, featuring tracks such as "Viva La Resistance", "American Dream", and "Fairy Tales". In October 2010, "Viva La Resistance" was included on the main setlist of the video game Rock Band 3. The group released the live EP Exit Strategy in 2011.
