The Black Atlantic is a Dutch acoustic pop band formed around singer-songwriter Geert van der Velde. The band's origins trace back to van der Velde's philosophy studies and his initial recordings as a hobby project. In 2006, he recorded "Send This Home," initially as a Valentine's gift, which later garnered label interest. This led to the release of their debut EP Send This Home in 2007 via Five Point Records in the US and Midsummer Records in Europe. The band's first full-length album, Reverence for Fallen Trees, was released digitally in 2009.
