Alexandre Debrus, born in 1976, is known as a Belgian cellist. He began his cello training at age four under his mother Eliane Debrus-Boucher. Debrus continued his studies with Luc Dewez and later with Mischa Maisky, Mark Drobinsky, Ivan Monighetti, and Mstislav Rostropovitch. His international concert career included performing at festivals such as the Festival de Biarritz and the Festival Martha Argerich in Buenos Aires. Debrus recorded over twenty albums, including Haydn, Concertos pour violoncelle nos 1 et 2 and Bach, Suites pour violoncelle seul nos 1, 2 et 5 (2014). He founded the Trio Carlo Van Neste in 2005 and collaborated with notable artists like Martha Argerich. Debrus received numerous awards, including the Prix Fifty One du Mérite Culturel de la Commune de Waterloo in 1995 and the Trophée FUGA 2019 from the Union des compositeurs belges in 2020.
