Evil Cowards is an American synth-pop and alternative dance band from New York, established in 2009. The ensemble was created by Tyler Spencer (also known as “Dick Valentine”) and William Bates. Spencer is the lead vocalist for the rock group Electric Six, while Bates is a music composer and the founder of the production company Fall on Your Sword. The duo released its debut studio album, Covered in Gas, in May 2009 through Metropolis Records. Spencer has described the project as being more electronic and synth-pop oriented compared to the guitar-focused sound of Electric Six. Unlike their first release, the band's second album, Moving Through Security, was self-released in October 2012 without a record label. In the same month as the second album's release, the band published a music video for the song "Bedford Avenue Wine Distributors".
