Pem is the outpouring of multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter Emily Perry. Blending her hauntingly husky vibrato voice with enchanting arrangements she crafts a sound where smoky music hall serenades meet ethereal alt-pop. Inspired by Joni Mitchell and Elliot Smith, the powerful intimacy of her songwriting transports her listeners into a haze of vulnerable introspection.
In 2022 Pem unveiled her debut E.P Songs About Hands. Written during an intensive psychotherapy training to express her conflicts with memory, connection and disassociation. Its confessional lyrics, swooping melodies and wistful field sounds offer space to reflect on what it means to touch and be touched.
Pem moved to Bristol in 2023 and immediately carved out a name for herself with her silencing live performances. She was long-listed for Glastonbury Emerging Talent as well as Greenman Rising and landed support slots with The Last Dinner Party.
That same year she signed with Fascination Street Records and worked with producer Ali Chant (Sorry, Katy J Pearson) to create her most profound project yet. An unflinchingly honest expression of grief, longing and fear written just weeks after her father's death, Cloud Work will be released in summer 2024.
This year Pem will support Febueder on their UK tour and grace the stages of Ritual Union and Bristol Sounds Festival. With headline and support dates across the UK and Europe to be announced, Pem is poised to captivate the hearts of an even wider audience.
