Tony Springer, known professionally as Wild T, is a Canadian blues rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter who fronts the band Wild T & the Spirit. The group was established in Canada in 1990 by Springer, former Moxy drummer Danny Bilan, and bassist Brian Dickie. They released their debut studio album, Love Crazy, through Warner Bros. Records in 1991, and its eponymous single “Love Crazy” reached the Number One spot on the RPM Canadian Content chart. In 1992, Springer was invited by David Bowie to perform as a guitarist on his studio album, Black Tie White Noise. Following the collaboration, the band released their second studio album, Givin' Blood, in 1993, which produced the single “Freedom Train” and the Canadian hit “Loveland”. To promote the release, they toured Canada as a supporting act for Bon Jovi, and the album earned a nomination for Best Hard Rock Album at the 1994 Juno Awards. After spending time performing as a blues sideman in Chicago, Illinois, Springer returned to Toronto and reformed the band with bassist Chas Laurie and drummer John Bouvette, releasing the studio album Strange Modern in 2000. With bassist Guenther Kapelle, they followed with the studio albums True Bliss in 2004, which featured guest appearances by Jeff Healey, Carole Pope, and Peter Nunn, and Fender Bender in 2008. The band subsequently released their live album, Live, in 2015.
