Juan Záizar Torres, born on September 9, 1933, in Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco, Mexico, was a Mexican singer and songwriter. His musical journey began under his father's influence, who introduced him to traditional Mexican music. At age ten, Juan moved to Huasteca Potosina with his family, where he and his brother David were discovered by a radio producer while singing by a river. Juan and David later formed the duo Hermanos Záizar, releasing their first LP, Así Canta Mexico, in 1961 for Peerless Records. Juan released over twenty-three albums as a solo artist, including Cruz De Olvido (1974), Delito (1975), and Juan Zaizar (1982). He also acted in several films. Juan Záizar passed away on February 6, 1991. His career was honored with the Virginia Fábregas Medal from ANDA and the Agustín Lara Medal from SACM in 1975.
