Latin Playboys was a Mexican musical group formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1994 by David Hidalgo and Louie Pérez of Los Lobos, along with Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake. The group started when Hidalgo's demo recordings caught Froom's attention, leading to the formation of a new project. Their debut album, Latin Playboys, was released in 1994 by Slash and Warner Bros., featuring songs initially intended for Los Lobos' Kiko (1990). The second album, Dose, was released in 1999 by Atlantic Records. Notable performances included shows at Galaxy Concert Theatre in Santa Ana, California, Lee's Palace in Toronto, and South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. The songs "Manifold de Amour" and "Forever Night Shade Mary" were featured on the soundtrack of Robert Rodriguez's 1995 film Desperado. Latin Playboys disbanded after the release of their second album.
