Peter Rösel, born February 2, 1945, in Dresden, Germany, is a renowned pianist. He began piano studies at age six with Ingeborg Finke-Siegmund and later studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Dmitri Baschkirow and Lew Oborin. Rösel's breakthrough came with awards from prestigious competitions: second prize at the International Robert-Schumann-Wettbewerb Zwickau in 1963, sixth prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1966, and a silver medal at the Montreal International Piano Competition in 1968. He has released numerous albums, including Fantasie C-Dur Op. 15 "Wanderer-Fantasie" (1972) and Klavierkonzert Nr. 3 D-moll Op. 30 (1979). Rösel has performed at major international festivals such as Salzburg and Edinburgh, collaborating with renowned orchestras like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. He received the Art Prize of the GDR in 1972 and the Mozart Prize of the Saxon Mozart Society in 2016 for his contributions to classical music.
