Darren Hanlon, born on June 16, 1973, in Gympie, Queensland, is an Australian singer-songwriter. Hanlon performed with the Lismore indie rock band The Simpletons before launching a solo career in 1999. His debut EP, Early Days, was released in 2000, and his debut studio album, Hello Stranger, appeared on Candle Records in 2002, showcasing his urban folk style. His subsequent album releases include Little Chills (2004), Fingertips And Mountaintops (2006), his compilation album Pointing Ray Guns At Pagans (2009), I Will Love You At All (2010), Where Did You Come From? (2015), and Life Tax (2022). These albums were issued through Candle Records and his own label, Flippin Yeah Records, which he founded in 2008. His tracks “Punk's Not Dead” and “Happiness Is a Chemical” reached number 45 and number 68 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2002 and 2006. His annual Christmas concerts, which began in 2005, became sold-out events. He also published his first zine, Cutting Remarks, in 2017.
