Sanity Obscure, a German gothic metal band, was formed in 1999 in Nürnberg. The group released their debut EP Somewhere in Between in 2002 and followed it with the demo Sanity Obscure in 2006. Their first full-length album, Springtime's Masquerade, was released in 2009 via Danse Macabre and the band gained significant attention through their performance at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in the same year. After relocating to the Rhön region and restructuring the lineup, Sanity Obscure returned with the album Through on February 3, 2023, also via Danse Macabre. The band is known for their distinctive the "Beauty and the Beast" vocal style and atmospheric instrumentation, which includes elements like strings and choirs.
