Spheric Universe Experience, a French progressive metal band with symphonic elements, was formed in 1999 by guitarist Vince Benaim and John Drai. They performed under the name Gates of Delirium, and the band underwent several lineup changes before settling on Spheric Universe Experience. Their demo titled The Burning Box helped secure their record deal, and they released their debut album, Mental Torments, in 2005 through Replica Records. The band's second album, Anima, was released in 2007 and featured a conceptual exploration of the human condition with spoken passages in multiple languages. In November 2007, they performed at ProgPower Scandinavia, marking their first international concert. Their third album, Unreal, was released in 2009 and focused on paranormal themes. In 2012, they released The New Eve. The band returned to the studio in 2022 with an album titled Back Home.
