Arild Staffan Möller, known professionally as Ale Möller, was born on March 26, 1955, in Scania, southern Sweden. He started his musical career as a jazz trumpeter and later expanded into traditional Scandinavian music and world music. Möller's early training included learning the bouzouki during his time in Greece, where he collaborated with composer Mikis Theodorakis. His debut album Birfilarmusik från Malmö was released in 1980, followed by notable works such as Vind (1994), Nordan (1994), and Agram (1996). Möller has been a member of several ensembles, including Frifot, Stockholm Folk Big Band, Enteli, Filarfolket, Ale Möller's Lyckliga Enmansorkester, and Neo Minore. He has collaborated with artists like Aly Bain, Bruce Molsky, Robin Williamson, Lena Willemark, and Per Gudmundson. His work often combines Swedish folk traditions with those of Shetland, Greece, India, and West Africa.
