Kristóf Baráti, born on May 17, 1979 in Budapest, Hungary, is a Hungarian violinist. He began violin studies with his mother before studying under Vilmos Tátrai and Eduard Wulfson in Paris. He gained prominence with a recital at age 11 at the Festival de Radio France in 1989 and subsequently won the 1995 Gorizia Competition, the 1996 Long‑Thibaud‑Crespin Competition with second prize, and the 1997 Queen Elisabeth Competition with third prize and the audience prize. Baráti performed with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and he received Hungary's Kossuth Prize in 2014.
