Los Guaraguao, a Venezuelan musical group formed in 1973, were part of the Latin American new song movement. The founding members included Eduardo Martínez on cuatro and vocals. Their breakthrough came with their interpretation of "Casas de cartón" by Alí Primera, which gained widespread popularity in Spanish-speaking countries. In 1973, the group participated in the Venezuelan Film Showcase in Mexico. The group released the album Las Casas de Carton in 1973, and Venezuela - Folklore Y Esperanza in 1975. Los Guaraguao continued to perform internationally, participating in festivals like Siete Días con el Pueblo in the Dominican Republic in 1974. Following Alí Primera's death in a car accident in 1985, the group experienced a period of inactivity. They resumed performances in 2007, supporting left-wing movements in El Salvador and Honduras in 2009.
