Peril was an Australian-Japanese industrial band formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1992. The group consisted of Tony Buck on drums and samples, Otomo Yoshihide on turntablism and guitar, Michael Sheridan on guitar, and Kato Hideki on bass guitar and vocals. Their music was characterized by complex rhythmic bases and improvised rock elements. Peril's debut performance occurred at the Sydney Sesquicentenary Jazz Festival in February 1992. The band released their self-titled debut album Peril in 1993 via Dr Jim's Records, followed by Multiverse in 1994 on Invisible/SF Records after relocating to the Netherlands and replacing Hideki with Thierry Fossemalle on bass guitar. Their final album, Astro, was released in 1996 via Red Note while based in Berlin. The group disbanded later that year.
