Frost Like Ashes, an American Christian black metal band, was formed in Kansas City, Missouri in 2001 and initially consisted of guitarist Michael John "Sebat" Larson, vocalist Nyk "Azahel" Edinger and bassist Syntyche, with drummer Shane "Adonijah" Goade joining in 2002. Their first release was the EP Pure as the Blood Covered Snow on SOTD Records in 2003. In 2005, Frost Like Ashes released their debut full-length album, Tophet. The band signed with Sullen Records in 2008 and released the EP Born to Pieces (2008). They went on hiatus in 2010 but returned in 2019 with a new lineup, releasing "The Weight of Ice and Fog" in 2021 and the EP Fellowship of Suffering in 2023.
