Natas, a rap group from Detroit, Michigan, was formed in 1992 by Esham, Mastamind, and T-N-T. Esham and Mastermind met at Osborne High School and later joined with T-N-T, deciding on the name Natas, an acronym for "Nation Ahead of Time and Space," which also spells "Satan" backward. Their debut album, Life After Death, was released in 1992 under Reel Life Productions. In 2002, Natas achieved their only charting album to date with Godlike, which peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart, number 45 on the Heatseekers chart, and number 56 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The group's unique style, dubbed "acid rap," blended hip hop beats with death metal lyrics. Following a period of inactivity, Natas released FUQERRBDY in 2014. Tragically, T-N-T passed away in a car accident on December 20, 2014, effectively disbanding the group. Esham and Mastamind continued to perform under the Natas name periodically.
