The Full Tilt Boogie Band was a Canadian rock band formed in 1969 by guitarist John Till. The band included pianist Richard Bell, bassist Brad Campbell, drummer Clark Pierson, and organist Ken Pearson. In 1969, Janis Joplin hired several members of the group for her backing lineup, the Kozmic Blues Band, but later toured with the entire Full Tilt Boogie Band. The group began touring in May 1970, including a performance at the Festival Express tour through Canada alongside acts like the Grateful Dead. Their last public performance took place on August 12, 1970. During September 1970, Joplin and the Full Tilt Boogie Band began recording the album Pearl (1971), which was released in January 1971 after her death.
