Colin Frederick Jacobsen, born April 13, 1936 in East Hills, Sydney, was an Australian singer and pioneer of rock and roll. After leaving school at 14, he joined the KJ Quintet, later the Joy Boys. He released the single “Bye Bye Baby” in 1959, which peaked at number 3 on the Australian charts. The follow-up single “Rockin Rollin Clementine” matched that position, and “Oh Yeah Uh Huh” later reached Number 1, making him the first Australian pop artist to top the national list. He toured with Lee Gordon’s shows and featured on television programmes such as Bandstand and Six O’Clock Rock. His debut album Jump with Joye was released in 1959. His career spanned nearly seven decades and he died in Sydney on August 5, 2025.
