Self-proclaimed as progressive-vintage, Melbourne's ALL THE COLOURS are
the best kind of oxymoron. Their sophisticated sound and sometimes-sinister
ethos draws on musical and cultural icons from Debussy to Hendrix, Camus
to Tarantino, re-calibrating classics for a cinematic future.
Formed in 2012, the quartet is made up of long-time friends JOSH
MORIARTY, JOSH MANN, JONATHAN TOOGOOD, and JOE BRAMLEY.
When each of their individual music projects came to an end, the gentlemen
knew what they wanted to do: write tunes that are melodically aphrodisiacal,
to make music that is both libidinous and romantic. Their songs, held together
by MORIARTY'S dream-falsetto and MANN'S sophisticated croon are given edge
by TOOGOOD'S seductive drums, BRAMLEY'S charming and alluring bass
line's, and a host of production tricks from classic songbooks manipulated for
a new era.
Always presented immaculately in suits, bow-ties, and pomaded hair, ALL
THE COLOURS are notoriously engaging live: their clean cut aesthetic
dissolving from well-behaved to wild at just the right moment. Hailed as best
performers and most dapper band at many festivals, their powerhouse
performances are a theatrical treat.
