Circa is an American progressive rock supergroup formed in 2006 in the United States, comprising vocalist and guitarist Billy Sherwood, keyboardist Tony Kaye, drummer Scott Connor, and bassist Rick Tierney. The band emerged from collaborations among former Yes members, with Billy Sherwood having joined Yes in the early 1990s and later working on tribute projects such as Back Against The Wall and Return To The Dark Side Of The Moon. Circa’s debut release, the album Circa 2007, arrived in July 2007 and featured contributions from Michael Sherwood and Cole Coleman, including tracks rooted in material co‑written by Sherwood and Trevor Rabin in 1995. The group followed with the album Circa HQ in January 2009, released under Cleopatra Records, and And So On in 2011, which showcased a streamlined lineup after the departure of guitarist Johnny Bruhns and drummer Jay Schellen. In 2013 the band reissued its earlier catalog and launched the live album Live From Here There & Everywhere on Glassville Records. The fifth studio effort, Valley Of The Windmill, was issued on 8 July 2016 through Frontiers Records and was described by Sherwood as “super proggy.” Throughout its career, Circa toured extensively in North America and Europe, collaborating with artists such as Bobby Kimball and John Payne, and maintained a presence on the progressive rock scene until the passing of founding drummer Alan White in 2022.
