Abysmal Grief, a gothic metal band from Italy, was formed in 1996 by multi-instrumentalist Regen Graves. The group's early influences included Death SS and Paul Chain Violet Theatre, combining esoteric themes with doom metal and horror film soundtrack elements. Their first official release was the demo Funereal (1998), followed by the single "Exsequia Occulta" (2000) which secured their first record deal with Horror Records. Abysmal Grief released several EPs and albums, including Misfortune (2009) and Feretri (2013). They toured extensively in Europe, performing at the Heavy Days in DoomTown. In 2018, they released "Blasphema Secta" under Terror from Hell Records, marking a shift towards satanism themes. The band celebrated their 20th anniversary with the compilation Reveal Nothing... (2016).
